Hannum’s bicycle habit started young, but was dramatically amplified after a tour down the California coast to San Diego during the summer break after college. Since then, regular backcountry exploration by bicycle has become a standard routine, and an inspiration for his writing. In addition to covering the vast trail and dirt road scene in the Willamette, Olin is an avid bicycle tourist. Recent accomplishments include a ride across Colorado and a large section of the Great Divide route.

In the coming years, he intends on completing the west coast route started back in 2010, and tackling the Cross-Washington trail.
